Vegan: 101 Quick-Fire, Dairy Free and Low Carb Vegan Diet Recipes

I received a free copy of the ebook Vegan: 101 Quick-Fire, Dairy Free and Low Carb Vegan Diet Recipes to review.

I love trying new recipes, especially vegan recipes. I was a vegan for 15 years and while I still stick to a meatless diet I no longer consider myself truly vegan. So I got this book hoping to get some more good meatless recipes. Well, I wasn't too pleased with this book. It started with an introduction that seemed pretty sanctimonious to me. The author seemed to be using the introduction to try and pressure people into going vegan. That kind of thing is annoying enough on its own, but then as I was reading the recipes I found that quite a few of them aren't even vegan! There are recipes calling for granulated sugar, which is made using bone char (literally burned animal bones): NOT VEGAN! Some recipes call for chocolate chips which are not vegan unless they're specialty chocolate. And the real kicker was one of the recipes calling for raw honey! HONEY!? That comes from bees and it is NOT VEGAN! How can you go from crowing about the benefits of veganism and not even know which foods are vegan and which aren't? Anyway, besides those issues that irritated me there are a few good recipes in here that I do look forward to making.
