I got this xylophone for Scotty to learn to play the xylophone. It comes with a free ebook that teaches you to play 15 songs on the xylophone. The ebook is sent through the Amazon message center and you will receive an email with it. I actually received two emails to download the ebook, which is nice I suppose in case the first message slipped by. The xylophone has one full octave of color coded keys and it comes with two wood sticks for playing. It is definately better quality than most xylophones for kids that are out there.
When I let Scotty play with this he tried to chew on the sticks, so I took them away. I have let him play with the xylophone without the sticks, but it's not as fun for him because it's hard to play without the sticks. All in all, Scotty isn't quite read for a xylophone. And Zach just wants to chew on it, so he can't play with it. I played it a little myself, thinking if I can learn it first it will be easier to teach Scotty. I've learned that it's actually really difficult to play a xylophone, you have to hit the keys just right or it doesn't work right. It can be really difficult to hit the keys in the right spot, too. Especially on the little keys. It will definitely take some preactice to be able to hit the keys correctly on a consistent basis. This is a pretty good quality xylophone and a fun toy for your kids.
