I received a free copy of the ebook Hijacked to review.
After having read the first book in the Scion series I wasn't impressed, but I was hopeful book two would improve the saga. Then after finishing book two I was even more let down, but I am going to finish reading the series because I was asked to read and review them, so here we are on book 2.5. Let's get down to it!
Well, like I said, I wasn't impressed with the first two books so I was not expecting much out of this book. I was pleasantly surprised to find this book is an improvement over the first two. The saving grace of this book, I think, is largely in the fact that the main character of the series is not the focus of this book. In this book, we follow the villain Manc instead of the whiny petulant Alaric of the first two books. And wow, does it make a difference. Not having to deal with pages of Alaric's childish existence is a great respite from the blandness of the main storyline. I was actually interested in this book, unlike the others in the series. I read it and kind of enjoyed it, it isn't the best book I've read, but it is nice to see that the problems in the first two book aren't an indication of poor writing skill on the author's end. I really enjoyed rooting for the bad guy, and I believe that this would be a better path for the future of the series.
