A Step and a Half to Success is a children's book about Eric, a boy who excelled at basketball from the time he was four years old but is now having some difficulty scoring since making the local youth league team. Young Eric has developed a fear of trying to shoot the ball because he doesn't want to miss in front of everyone. It's a very understandable fear, every chi,d has felt the fear of failing in front of an audience. So Eric's mom tells him only he is responsible for his success or failure and encourages him to practice, which he does. And in the end his practice pays off and he overcomes his fear of failing and successfully helps his team win the game.
